Horror Is Nothing Other Than Reality exposes the alienating and gnarly nature of species entanglement, through a set of mutable assemblages composed of hardware and organics. Horror Is Nothing Other Than Reality preys on our fears, falling into post-apocalyptic and futuristic tropes. Yet, stepping back, we see a familiarity in the works and understand that they are quite close to our current reality.

Horror Is Nothing Other Than Reality is chapter one in a series of exhibitions that look critically at human-centric states of play. The second chapter, Entangled Me, occured in November 2023.

		<description>THE RAT BEDLINGTON CRYSTAL ENERGY EXPERIENCEA series of shrines created in 2015, venerating the abject and mundane effluence of life.Each work invited the audience to contribute a part of themselves or discard something on their person. The works are remeniscent of a pilgrims journey of abstinence and material rejection as they visit stations along their pilgrimage. The works, being mostly constructed of discarded materials themselves, bring this journey to an overwhelmingly artificial and materially abundant world.

For One There Is Another
This painting is about symmetry. The theory of supersymmetry posits that for each particle there is another, a superpartner, differentiated only by their spin. I imagine two beings who are identical counterparts, who are denied their oneness only by their trajectory through the universe. I imagine that this world has utter dependence on its imbalance, thinking of matter and its antimatter counterpart, who annihilate each other in their union. It is melancholic but necessary that these beings remain apart, though they long for oneness and the violent destructive power that it would bring. They come together for a moment, maybe halted by the fiery potential, maybe impassioned by it.

Two terrestrial planets orbiting a mature
star collide some 300 light years away. If any life was present on either planet, the massive collision would have wiped out everything in a matter of minutes. A massive disk of infrared-emitting dust circling the star provides silent testimony to this sad fate.
